Care For Your Sensitive Skin
While sensitive skin care is nothing new, the number of people that seem to be suffering is on the increase. Sensitive skin is defined as skin that cannot cope with the effects of the environment or other conditions like certain materials or products that irritate it and can cause redness and sometimes swelling. This problem may affect you at any age and once it does you will probably have to start using sensitive skin care products specially formulated for this type of condition.
There are a variety of sensitive skin care products available owing to the fact that not everyone that has hyper-sensitive skin has the same problem. While skin sensitivity conditions vary, one are where almost everyone has a problem is with soaps, detergents and cleaning compounds.
But the damage starts generally beyond a defined threshold or tolerance level. As we all have different tolerance levels, those with more sensitive skin will be more susceptible to skin damage which could actually happen in a short space of time.
The difference with sensitive skin care to ordinary skin care products is the concentration of known irritants is kept to an absolute minimum or eliminated from the product completely. Sensitive skin care products of any type are usually marked as such but if you have very specific concerns then check the side of the container or list of instructions to see if there is anything you should know about.
Even within the range of sensitive skin care products available, choose those that have the minimum of preservatives, colorings and other additives. A good place to start is with the products you clean you skin with like cleansers and stoner’s because these products almost always use alcohol or a substitute s the active ingredient.
Wear protective gloves when doing laundry or other chemical based cleaning and if you are allergic to rubber, you can wear cotton gloves below the rubber ones. A further problem is often caused buy the sun, so use special sunscreen if you intend to spend time in the sun.
Avoiding exposure to dust and other pollutants is also important for sensitive skin care so cover yourself adequately before going out but you can use a hypoallergenic moisturizer as a skin care product if there is none specifically labeled for sensitive skin. Then when you clean your face, ensure that nothing contains any soap or alcohol (as mentioned previously) is used and any exfoliation peels or creams are applied carefully not to damage the skin further.
For women that wear makeup, it is recommended that it not be worn for too long and that once again only hypoallergenic skin care products are used. It may seem at first as though you will not have a normal healthy life but with the products formulated nowadays that is not the case at all but is will require a little more forethought on your part before you use products or go out.
